Kaliya Young
Kaliya “Identity Woman” Young is a digital identity expert, community convener, and pioneer of open, user-centric internet protocols who is increasingly applying decades of experience in decentralized technology and collaborative governance to regenerative and bioregional movements. She co-founded the Internet Identity Workshop and Project Weave and has researched regenerative governance patterns within the Internet Engineering Task Force. Her recent work explores how open protocols can give people and communities greater agency over their identities, relationships, knowledge, and digital infrastructure rather than leaving them dependent on proprietary platforms. This aligns strongly with the Planet Project’s emphasis on self-organization, cooperation, interconnectedness, shared leadership, and technology in service to life. In Three Horizons terms, Young is working in Horizon 2: drawing on proven open-protocol principles while developing the digital commons and coordination infrastructure that could support more distributed, resilient, community-governed Horizon 3 systems.
