Helena Norberg-Hodge

Helena Norberg‑Hodge is a visionary thinker, author, filmmaker, and pioneer of the global **localization movement** — a grassroots, regenerative alternative to the destructive logic of globalization. Over more than four decades, she has helped people around the world see how economic systems that prioritize corporate profit erode community ties, ecological health, and human wellbeing. Through books like *Ancient Futures* and *Local is Our Future*, the award‑winning documentary *The Economics of Happiness*, and her leadership of **Local Futures** and **World Localization Day**, Helena shows how strengthening local economies, cultures, and ecosystems can heal fractured societies and rebuild resilience from the ground up. Rather than merely critiquing global systems, she inspires practical, community‑based action that restores cultural diversity, democratizes food and economic systems, and nurtures ecological and spiritual wellbeing — deeply aligned with the Planet Project’s values of truth‑seeking, minimizing harm, sacred regard for life, compassion, and self‑organizing social change.
