A New Era of Transparency in Emissions Monitoring. For too long, the world has relied on delayed, self-reported, and often opaque emissions data to track our progress in combating climate change. Climate TRACE is changing that. Climate TRACE leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning, and vast networks of satellites and sensors to provide an independent, real-time inventory of greenhouse gas emissions across industries, countries, and individual assets. By pinpointing exactly where and when emissions are happening, this initiative is accelerating climate action with unprecedented accuracy and speed. Each year they have enhanced their database and as of November 2024 are tracking more than 600 million emitting sources across 72,000 state and local regions, providing comprehensive GHG data for over 90% of the world’s cities. It offers granular, monthly data that includes both greenhouse gases and harmful co-pollutants.

This radical transparency is empowering policymakers, businesses, scientists, and activists with reliable data to drive real emissions reductions.

Almost as extraordinary as the quality, scope, and transparency of their data is degree of collaboration they have achieved across a global, not-for-profit coalition of over 100 universities, scientists, and AI experts.
