Bioregioning Earth
Bioregioning Earth is building a knowledge commons for one of the Great Transition’s most promising organizing ideas: realigning human communities, economies, and governance with the living systems of place rather than the political and administrative boundaries inherited from industrial civilization. Its growing database maps organizations and practices across ecosystem regeneration, community governance, bioregional finance, infrastructure, legal stewardship, traditional and emerging ways of knowing, and other dimensions of bioregional practice. Its distinctive contribution is connective: making an emerging global field visible so practitioners can discover one another, recognize recurring patterns, share knowledge, and learn across places without imposing a single blueprint. In Three Horizons terms, Bioregioning Earth helps reveal the distributed landscape of Horizon 2 experiments from which Horizon 3 forms of place-based civilization may emerge. It strongly reflects the Planet Project’s commitments to interconnectedness, ecological stewardship, cooperation, systems literacy, knowledge sharing, and self-organizing transformation.
